RAGDOLL ANNOUNCES TWO NEW COMMISSIONS
BY BBC TELEVISION

INNOVATIVE NEW CHILDREN’S PROGRAMMES FROM
RAGDOLL TO LAUNCH ON BBC IN 2007

Ragdoll, the highly acclaimed and award-winning producers of children’s television programmes, is pleased to announce two exciting new broadcast commissions by BBC Television - In the Night Garden and Tronji - for transmission on BBC terrestrial and digital platforms in the UK in 2007.

Anne Wood, Founder and Creative Director of Ragdoll says, “We are pleased to continue our longstanding relationship with the BBC. In The Night Garden and Tronji are both as challenging and ambitious as any programme that Ragdoll has ever produced, and we are gratified that the BBC recognizes and values the opportunity to work with us to create compelling and original programmes for children of a variety of ages.”

Head of CBBC Animation & Acquisitions, Michael Carrington, says, “We are excited to have confirmed the commissions for both In The Night Garden and Tronji. These programmes are unique, risk-taking, and of course highly entertaining. Each of the programmes speaks to a distinct audience in an original way and we look forward to launching them both at various points in 2007.”

In the Night Garden is a series of 100 half-hour programmes for very young children aged 1-3 years and features a host of wonderfully silly characters living together within a happy and caring community. It is both funny and reassuring and parents and carers will welcome its capacity to relax and entertain. Filmed in a real woodland, the setting is breathtaking and the programme weaves together the very latest technical innovations in live-character costume technology and CG animation to create a stunning, compelling and fully immersive experience for young viewers.

Tronji is a series of 30 half-hour programmes intended for children aged 6-8 years. It involves two worlds that co-exist, the Tronji world, and the real world, and blends live action and real children within a CG-animated environment. It will engage and captivate pre-teen children as they immerse themselves in the problem solving and detecting activities of the Tronji world, watching as real children solve the comical dilemmas presented in each episode.

In the Night Garden and Tronji will begin airing on the BBC in 2007. The assignment of cross-media rights including, international distribution, and UK and international merchandising will be announced shortly.
