B.O.T. and the Beasties
B.O.T. and the Beasties is the latest series from Ragdoll Productions and launched on CBeebies on 11th January 2021.
A new animated series of 50 x 5mins episodes introduces pre-schoolers to the trials and tribulations of a loveable robot called B.O.T. (Beastie Observation Transmitter).
B.O.T discovers new worlds and all manner of new and strange Beasties that inhabit them. His mission is to collect the picture and sound data of the comically unpredictable Beasties, of course this is never easy but always very funny especially from a child’s point of view.
B.O.T. and the Beasties encourages children to anticipate outcomes, which is what all story telling is about and may encourage children to make their own stories.
Every Beastie has a name but also an action because developing from naming words to action words is an important step in story making.
Children might like to think of an action first then draw a comic character that represents that action and then give it a name.
They can tell a funny story about what happens when their special Beastie meets B.O.T. Eventually they may have created a number of Beasties that they would enjoy as their own special collection.
Sorting collecting and categorising can be extremely satisfying and confidence building.
Have lots of fun with the Beasties.
